Texas Ecoregions

Unit Summary

Weathering, erosion, and deposition occur in environments due to forces of gravity, wind, ice, and water. Each event affects different environments in Texas in different ways. Ecoregions in Texas are characterized by vegetation, animal wildlife, soil types, precipitation, temperature, and various land features. Within each ecoregion there is a specific amount of water available and human activity can affect groundwater and surface water in the watershed.

Essential Questions

  • How does human activity affect the groundwater and the surface water in a water shed?
  • How do the characteristics of an ecoregion help to determine what type of weathering, erosion, and deposition that will occur?
  • How can we lessen the neagative impacts on our freshwater supply?
